| "I'm using Flightpal to supplement my current copilot/flightmaster setup. I'm still getting the whole setup down, but I thought I'd write a quick review to give my initial impressions. Overall the program is great. The program has somewhat unique features regarding data input - it has large buttons to make it easy to thumb data in which is great during busy in-flight times so that you don't have to fumble with a stylus. ] Note that there is no flight planning capabilities at all in the program. The E6-B portion solves for 1 missing data point when you know the other 2. The documentation reveals this function when it discusses how to track descent/ascent rates - you can make either time, distance, or rate/angle of descent the primary criteria and then the program fills in the secondary data based on the results. Pretty standard stuff but the program does a very nice job of it. So if you are at 7500' and want to know a descent rate that will get you to pattern altitude at 1 mile out you can punch in the numbers and Flightpal will give you back descent rate and time. Want the descent rate in glide slope degrees vs. FPM? Just click on the descriptor and the value updates to show degrees. Very nice. WB calculator graphic only shows loaded configuration, and not the ramp and fuel weights like CoPilot does. It also does not allow fuel in 1/10's as noted in another review. Fuel types supported are AvGas and Jet A-1 but it appears that you can change the fuel weight manually but not the descriptor which may be confusing at first, but the numbers/weight are calculated correctly. 8 stations are supported with 10 points in the envelope. A nice overview of adding/editing your fleet of planes in the program is included in the manual, and the website has some sample configurations for various aircraft that are free downloads. The HSI/VOR is easy to read on my Tungsten T which is fed from a Magellan 315 at 19,200 baud. The demo limits numeric entry by not allowing access to the 1 and 2 keys, but everything else seems to be fully functional. The manual is the only area that I felt downgraded the overall ranking from Excellent to Very Good. There is no overview of the Time, Wind, or Alt/Speed functions which are all very strong features of the program. With that said I am still a student pilot so to the more experienced pilot the manuals disclaimer that "A complete documentation of all functions does not seem fit as most forms are hopefully self-explanatory." may be a viable statement. I'm still fumbling around abit in these areas to figure out which parts get input from the GPS, how entering values in one area affect others, and how the timers, etc could be used. Support for color screens in the rest of the program and not just HSI would be great. Flightpal uses its own waypoint database, but a free Excel tool is provided to help support the effort of maintaining the waypoint database. I have not tried to see if the CoPilot waypoint generator could be used to feed the excel tool to keep Flightpal waypoints up to date. The Flightpal website shows a snapshot of most, if not all the screens available to help give you a nice feel for what the program looks like without having to go thru the download/install/evaluate routine. A great program with an intuitive and easy to use UI, and some very strong navigation, GPS and E6-B features in a $25 program." | |

| "This is the most complete and easy to use flight computer I have seen. It is designed to easily read (as some of us don't have the eyes of a twenty year old). It is aparent that a lot of work went into this...Great Job!" | |
