| "eFlite just released eFlite Aviator Pro v3.08 and it's absolutely fantastic and even comes in a PocketPC Mobile Edition. Flight planning doesn't get much easier now that I'm able to perform aircraft weight and balance calculations on a device that slips into my shirt pocket. A lot of pilots forget about the record keeping aspects of flying and that is what's so cool about eFlite. I have searched the Internet high and low and guarantee you will NOT find a "mobile" program that Saves Weight and Balance Records, Prints and even Emails them right from the cockpit. Nobody but eFlite anyway!
I installed eFlite's Mobile Edition on an iPAQ rx5915, you know the one with the integrated GPS, so I can easily perform last minute W&B calculations and file a flight plan with DUAT but also take advantage of a moving map and XM weather while in the air. I also added electronic charts and A/FD for a complete Electronic Flight Bag in an affordable and super portable device.
The iPAQ software combo above is simple to pull together and sure beats the heck out of spending over $3000 on a Garmin GPSMAP 696 or 695. Sure, the Garmin is really cool but can't you think of other places to spend an extra $2600?
The eFlite software only cost $120 and you can get an iPAQ for a measly $200 to $500 depending on the model. Moving map, XM weather and Chart subscriptions vary by vendor but you have to pay for those anyway no matter which device you choose. {version 3.08}" |
