News: Oshkosh 2007 (Day One)

Cirrus Enters The LSA Market ...
The Cirrus SRS (SR Sport) Light Sport Airplane (LSA) has been introduced today at Oshkosh. The new Cirrus SRS will be a lightweight aircraft with a moderate cruise speed of about 120 kts (the maximum limit for LSAs). Ergonomics, along with modern avionics, single-power lever and the Cirrus Airframe Parachute System (CAPS™) align with the CIRRUS philosophy of comfort, safety and, in this case, lively performance. The airplane will be powered by a ROTAX 912S (100 hp) motor with a fuel capacity of 18.6 gallons and a fuel burn of 3.8GPH.

ACR Releases a New Personal GPS Locator ...
ACR Electronics has introduced the MicroFix. This one-button activated, emergency signaling device for aviators and outdoors enthusiasts is FCC-approved and is 35 percent smaller and 25 percent lighter than its predecessor.
Weighing in at just 10 ounces, the MicroFix is easily carried in a pack or pocket and is small enough to be worn on a flight jacket or belt by aviators, the company says. A lanyard and clip provide functionality and allow for multiple mounting options. The suggested MSRP for the MicroFix is $750.

Eclipse Introduces Their New VLJ ...
Eclipse Aviation today unveiled an even trimmer version of the Very Light Jet (VLJ) called the Eclipse Concept Jet (ECJ), this single engine four seat airplane has secretly logged 30 flight hours at altitudes up to 25,000 feet and speeds up to 250 knots. The jet includes a single engine mounted above the fuselage between a v-tail.
