This evolution of NAVAir Approaches, the best-selling approach plate viewer, provides a three dimensional view of the aircraft during the approach, positioning it both on the plan view and on the vertical profile. “When flying an approach, altitude awareness is just as important as position”, says Amir Tirosh, President of AirGator. “With NAVAir Approaches 3D, we are giving pilots unprecedented situational awareness in all dimensions so they can improve their ability to prepare for and execute approaches safely and comfortably. Approaches 3D is not a navigational tool, it is an invaluable aid in visualizing and following Instrument Approach Procedures.”
Approach plates are easily accessed either from the AirGator's NAVAir moving map or from NAVAir Approaches simple interface. When the plane arrives at the boundary of the Instrument Approach Procedure (IAP), it appears on the approach plate, not only giving you an accurate view of your position on the approach plan view, but also overlaying an airplane symbol on the vertical profile, allowing you to see your position and altitude on each segment. When the plane reaches a user defined taxi speed, the airplane is automatically overlaid on the airport diagram. If there is no separate airport diagram for this airport, the plane will display on the airport diagram on the plate itself.
The ability to view an airport diagram, and their position on airport runways, taxiways and ramps helps minimize dangerous runway incursions and give pilots the confidence to safely navigate the most complex airport layouts.
NAVAir Approaches 3D marks the latest innovation by AirGator, who were first to integrate satellite broadcast weather into an aviation moving map. The NAVAir aviation suite of software includes the award winning NAVAir Moving Map, NAVAirWX for integrated real time weather with XM WX or WSI/Sirius WX, the best selling NAVAir Approaches, NAVAir Traffic for intuitive traffic visualization and NAVAir Streets for land navigation.
