News: Lufthansa Starts Mobile Boarding Program
Posted by Matthew Justice on May 2, 2008Lufthansa passengers can use their mobile phone as a boarding pass service on flights from Hamburg to Munich or Frankfurt, eliminating the need for printed boarding passes.
Travelers will need to have an internet-enabled phone, and must select the "Mobile Boarding Pass" option after checking in on-line at http://mobile.lufthansa.com site. After inputting details they will be sent an email (or SMS message) with their flight data plus a 2-D barcode which can be read by a scanner at the departure gate. Passengers not checking in bags will therefore skip straight to the security checkpoint.
Starting in May, on-line check-in will become available on flights to Canada, Mexico, South America and selected Middle East and African destinations.
