News: Get METAR, Airport and Flight Information Free From Google via Text Messages

Google offers many useful and free data services that provide quick and useful information on any cell phone. To get started all you need to do is send a text message (also known as SMS) to 466453 (or just remember Google).

In other words in the To Box of your text message system enter 466453. Next in the body of the message type what you are looking for.

METAR KGTU - this will show the most current raw METAR from the airport selected.

KAUS AIRPORT - this will show the current temperature and any delays for the airport selected.

FLIGHT AA 2111 - this will show the flight status on a given airline and flight number.

Both of these services are free with the exception of the standard text messaging rates applied to your mobile phone. METAR data is provided my NOAA, Airport and Flight information is provided by FlightStats.com.
